Zalu Tours and Safaris


Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before booking or participating in any tour or safari with Zalu Tours and Safaris.


BOOKING PROCEDURE

Confirmation of a booking is made in writing via email once it has been agreed upon by the client and the Zalu Tours and Safaris agent.

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total tour price is required to secure your booking.

The remaining balance must be paid 45 days prior to your arrival in South Africa.

No quotation issued by Zalu Tours and Safaris and accepted by the client (provisional or final), or booking made (provisional or final), shall be binding until a final invoice has been issued and payment has been received by Zalu Tours and Safaris.

All payments must be made via EFT or international wire transfer.

All payments must be free of bank charges. Clients must ensure that all international bank fees are paid by the sender.


TOUR PRICING

Tour prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR). For convenience, an approximate price may be shown in the client’s local currency.

All foreign currency amounts are subject to change depending on exchange rates on the day payment is made.

Prices quoted on the website or marketing material are indicative only and subject to change without notice. The price shown on the final written booking confirmation is binding.


RATES EXCLUDE

Unless otherwise stated in the itinerary, the following are excluded from the tour price:

• International and domestic airline tickets
• Certain meals and all drinks (depending on the safari package booked)
• Tips and gratuities for guides, rangers and lodge staff
• Accommodation before or after safari dates
• Meals during Cape Town excursions unless specifically included
• Personal purchases and optional activities


CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

All cancellations must be made in writing via email to the Zalu Tours and Safaris agent.

The following cancellation fees apply:

45–30 days prior to arrival: 25% cancellation fee
29–15 days prior to arrival: 50% cancellation fee
14–1 day prior to arrival: 100% cancellation fee

Refunds of deposits or prepayments are subject to the cancellation policies of the lodges and service providers booked.

Cancellations are only effective once written notification has been received.


CHANGES TO BOOKINGS

If your travel dates change, please contact your safari consultant as soon as possible.

Changes are subject to lodge availability and may result in additional charges or cancellation fees.

Where possible, at least 60 days’ notice should be given prior to the original travel date.


TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND VISAS

It is the sole responsibility of the client to ensure they have the correct travel documents required for entry into South Africa and any other country visited during the tour.

Clients must ensure they travel with:

• A valid passport with at least two blank pages
• A passport valid for at least six months after departure
• Any required visas or vaccination certificates

For children under 18, additional documentation such as an unabridged birth certificate may be required.

Zalu Tours and Safaris cannot be held liable if entry into a country is denied due to incorrect documentation.


TRAVEL AND MEDICAL INSURANCE

Clients are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering:

• Trip cancellation
• Medical expenses
• Medical evacuation
• Personal injury
• Loss or theft of personal belongings

Zalu Tours and Safaris will not be responsible for losses incurred due to lack of adequate insurance.


SAFETY WARNING AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Safari tours and outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Wildlife encounters
• Uneven terrain
• Remote locations
• Weather conditions
• Travel in open safari vehicles

While Zalu Tours and Safaris prioritises client safety, clients participate entirely at their own risk and must follow all instructions given by guides and lodge staff.


HEALTH WARNINGS

Certain safari destinations may be located in malaria risk areas.

Clients should consult a doctor or travel clinic prior to travel for medical advice, vaccinations, and anti-malaria medication where recommended.

It is the responsibility of the client to ensure they are physically fit to participate in the tour activities.


PERSONAL INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Zalu Tours and Safaris, its owners, directors, employees, agents and affiliates shall not be liable for any injury, illness, loss of life, damage or loss of property arising from:

• Participation in safari or tour activities
• Accommodation arranged through the tour
• Transportation arranged through the tour
• Activities provided by third-party suppliers

Participation in any tour is undertaken entirely at the client’s own risk.


STOLEN OR LOST LUGGAGE

The safekeeping of personal belongings and luggage remains the sole responsibility of the client.

Zalu Tours and Safaris will assist where possible but cannot be held liable for stolen or lost items.


CHILD POLICY

Many accommodation establishments have strict age policies.

Clients must disclose the age of all children in the travel group when making a booking.

Children may be refused participation in certain activities, including open safari vehicle game drives and guided bush walks, depending on age restrictions set by lodges or guides.


CHILDREN ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

South African immigration regulations require specific documentation when travelling with children.

Clients are responsible for ensuring that all required legal documentation is available when travelling with minors.

Zalu Tours and Safaris cannot be held liable if entry into a country is refused due to missing documentation.


CHANGES TO ITINERARIES

Zalu Tours and Safaris reserves the right to make reasonable changes to itineraries where necessary due to:

• Weather conditions
• Safety concerns
• Lodge availability
• Operational requirements

Where possible, clients will be informed in advance of such changes.


FORCE MAJEURE

Zalu Tours and Safaris shall not be held liable for failure to perform obligations where such failure is caused by events beyond reasonable control including but not limited to:

• Natural disasters
• Fires or floods
• Political unrest or riots
• Pandemics or government restrictions
• Airline disruptions or transport failures


USE OF THE WEBSITE

The Zalu Tours and Safaris website may only be used for:

• Browsing tour information
• Comparing safari options
• Requesting quotations

All content on the website including text, itineraries, images, branding and logos remains the intellectual property of Zalu Tours and Safaris and may not be reproduced without written permission.


PRIVACY POLICY

Zalu Tours and Safaris is committed to protecting the privacy of its clients.

Personal information collected through the website is used only for the purpose of processing bookings, communication, and improving our services.

All personal data is handled in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa.

Client information will not be sold or shared with third parties without consent, except where required to process bookings or comply with legal obligations.


INDEMNIFICATION

By booking and participating in a tour with Zalu Tours and Safaris, clients agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zalu Tours and Safaris, its owners, employees, agents and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses or expenses arising from participation in the tour.

Clients may be required to sign a separate indemnity form prior to departure.

Failure to submit the required indemnity documentation may result in cancellation of the booking without refund.


GOVERNING LAW

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of South Africa.

Any disputes arising from these Terms shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.


MODIFICATIONS TO TERMS

Zalu Tours and Safaris reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time.

Any updates become effective immediately upon publication on the website.
